UNIX Social Club

We celebrate operating system diversity, disruptive engineering concepts, and collaborative development models that shaped the UNIX legacy — from Solaris to FreeBSD, from Debian GNU/Linux to macOS, from OpenBSD to Plan 9, MINIX or NetBSD… welcome to the club!

We are a diverse group of free software advocates & network architects, community organizers & system administrators, ascii artists & tech entrepreneurs, counter-culture enthusiasts & command-line users of all flavors. We love learning. We love sharing. We love building.

We have meet-ups, talks & hackathons, currently in Dijon (France). Those in-person events are unlike large tech conferences by design: they gather smaller groups of people for quality time, easier organizing, focused sessions, affinity building, around keyboards & beyond.

We are particularly keen on inviting, onboarding & including folks who have historically had less visibility, incentive & opportunity in tech. As such, we’re excited to create a safe space for free software hackers of all genders, all colors, and all UNIX flavors!

We’re happy to meet fellow textmode rebels with an open-mind, so don’t be shy, and come chat on IRC? Looking forward to meeting all of you terminal rockers, command punks, console ravers, shell breakdancers & network headbangers eventually!
